PJ2FIFA Special Event Station

As the entire island celebrates Curaçao’s historic debut at the FIFA World Cup 2026, VERONA is proud to join the “Blue Wave” with the activation of the special event call sign PJ2FIFA throughout the tournament.

Curaçao will be the smallest nation ever to compete in a FIFA World Cup — a milestone worth celebrating on and off the air!

On Saturday, June 13th, starting at 11:00 AM AST (13:00 UTC), VERONA members will be on the air in shifts from our QTH in Parera, aiming to log as many QSOs as possible. With this special event, we invite amateur radio operators worldwide to join the excitement by hunting PJ2FIFA and earning a unique commemorative eQSL.

We will be operating on the following bands (conditions permitting):

  • SSB: 10m, 15m, 17m, 20m, 40m, 80m
  • FT8: 15m, 17m

In preparation for this activation, our team has been hard at work upgrading and preparing the station, including:

  • Installing a microwave link — the first step in building our HamNet — to ensure reliable connectivity between our sites
  • Setting up 2 workstations for networked logging.
  • Repairing the 40/80m dipole
  • Constructing a new 17m dipole
  • Testing and optimizing the 10/15/20m beam
  • General station improvements and cleanup

We’re excited to share this moment with the global amateur radio community and look forward to making many contacts during this special event.

eQSL Cards will be available later during this week, please check back on this page to request yours.
